Brass Instruments include Trumpets, French Horns, Trombones, Baritones (also known as Euphoniums), and Tubas.
How To Oil Valves
Trumpets should oil valves on a regular basis to avoid damage to the instrument. Oiling valves over a trash can or paper towel is best to avoid messes.
1) Begin by carefully unscrewing the top of the valve.
2) Carefully lift the entire valve straight up out of the casing (do not remove the spring!).
3) Oil the valve just under the spring (metal only).
4) Carefully replace by gently dropping the valve back into the casing.
5) Gently twist until you hear a "click". This signals that the valve is back in place.
6) Once the valve is secured in place, screw the top back on. For more information and pictures click here:

Baritone (Euphonium) and Tuba:
Important Brass Accessories
Trumpet, Baritone, and Tuba students should own a small bottle of valve oil to keep the valves lubricated and in good working condition. Please see the "how to oil valves" section for instruction.
Trombones: Students should own a tube of slide grease and a small spray water bottle to lubricate slides. Further infomation can be found on the trombone link above.
